Privacy Policy

This policy covers newsdeck.co.uk, operated as part of the WorkDeck group of products. If you have questions about how your data is handled, contact hello@newsdeck.co.uk.

If you create an account: your email address and a securely hashed password. We send a verification email to confirm the address is real.

If you subscribe to NewsDeck Pro: your subscription is handled by Stripe. We do not see or store your card details — Stripe processes payment and tells us only whether your subscription is active.

If you use Trackers, Alerts, or Saved stories: we store which MPs, categories, or keywords you've chosen to track, and which stories you've bookmarked, so the feature works.

If you vote in the Voting Intention Tracker or a poll: the tracker is restricted to UK visitors, which means we check (but don't permanently store) your IP address at the point you vote, to confirm you're voting from the UK.

If you subscribe to our email briefing: we store your email address for that purpose alone, and every email includes an unsubscribe link.

For everyone, including visitors without an account: we use analytics cookies to understand which pages are read and how the site is performing, and (where applicable) advertising cookies from Google AdSense.

We rely on a small number of external services to run NewsDeck, each of which processes relevant data under their own privacy terms:

• Stripe — payment processing for Pro subscriptions.
• Google — Analytics (site usage) and AdSense (advertising), where enabled.
• Groq — generates some of the plain-English story summaries and analysis text you see on the site. It processes article text, not your personal data.
• Our email and hosting providers — deliver verification emails, alerts, and the newsletter, and host the site and its database.

We don't sell your personal data to anyone, for advertising or any other purpose.

NewsDeck uses Google AdSense to show adverts on some pages. Google and its advertising partners use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. This is sometimes called personalised or interest-based advertising.

You can opt out of personalised advertising, and see or adjust the information used to show you ads, by visiting Google's Ads Settings at adssettings.google.com, or more generally at aboutads.info.

We use essential cookies (to keep you logged in), analytics cookies (to understand site usage), and, where advertising is enabled, advertising cookies as described above. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings, though essential cookies are required for login and account features to work.

Account data is kept for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact hello@newsdeck.co.uk and we'll action this within a reasonable timeframe, subject to any records we're required to keep for accounting or legal purposes.

If you're in the UK or EU, data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, and to object to certain kinds of processing. To exercise any of these, email hello@newsdeck.co.uk. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

NewsDeck is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13.

We may update this policy as the site changes. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
