Everton are reportedly being put up for sale less than two years after being taken over by The Friedkin Group (TFG). Barely 22 months after completing their takeover, the American investment group are said to be actively weighing up a complete sale of the Toffees, according to The Athletic. Last month, it emerged TFG had been exploring the market for outside investment, initially targeting a minority stake deal to generate funds for the club's development. While that route remains possible, the ownership group is now also seriously considering offloading a majority stake. The American group are described as "completely happy" to retain ownership until a suitable opportunity presents itself. Notably, TFG have indicated they would only relinquish control if "convinced" that prospective new owners could take the club to a higher level. Supporters were left angered during the summer window with approximately £100million worth of playing talent departing the club. The biggest exit saw Manchester City sign Iliman Ndiaye for £65million. A proposed £40million transfer that would have taken Harrison Armstrong to Nottingham Forest was only prevented after fans staged a protest against the move.
